On Sunday, Oct 25th, students from OC School of Martial Arts competed in the 2009 Great Pumpkin Tournament in Corona, CA and returned with 14 trophies! I know that for many it was a great test of courage. Whether you came home with top honors or not I'm very proud of you and look forward to seeing you compete again. Parents you too should be proud of the efforts and courage your children displayed.
And now for the results...
Orange County School of Martial Arts students had a very strong showing at the 2009 World Dang (Tang) Soo Do Union Championships / Battle of LA on Saturday, May 2nd. We are extremely proud of everyone who competed and excited for those who left with a medal. More importantly though I'm most proud of the manner that they conducted themselves - with discpline, respect, courage, enthusiasm and genuine comaraderie. Parents, regardless of how your children finished in the medal count you too should be proud of the way they demonstrated the core values teach. And now for the results...
Congratulations to Takoda Romero for placing 2nd in sparring at the Great Pumpkin Tournament in Corona, CA on Sunday, October 19th. Takoda won 3 awesome matches on the way to his first ever trophy in a tough division that saw Chris Haugen lose his first match to the eventual winner. Takoda's mom said that before the tournament he very sure that he would win a trophy this time. His hard work and growing confidence is paying off! OCKicks students medal results:
Takoda Romero - 2nd Place Orange Belt Sparring
Chris Haugen - 3rd Place Orange Belt Forms
Our green and red belt students fell short of the medal round but all fought well in their sparring matches. We will work them hard to return in February with a stronger showing.
